Vivaldi was a Catholic priest, faithful to his Breviary and to his devotional practices. In listening to his opus of sacred music his profoundly religious heart is revealed. Antonio Lucio Vivaldi is considered to be one of the best Baroque composers of all time, with a great influence that spread throughout Europe over the course of his life. Vivaldi’s father, Gianbattista, was one of the best violinists in the city and a popular performer in San Marco’s Basilica. He was the one introducing young Antonio to the violin and to the highly musical atmosphere of his native city, Venice. One of the most famous Baroque composers, Antonio Lucio Vivaldi, affectionately known by many in his time as “the Red Priest” due to his auburn locks, was born in Venice in 1678. His father, who. Antonio Vivaldi (1678-1741), Italian Composer, Violinist, Teacher and Priest. Antonio Vivaldi is one of the leading and renowned violinists who contributed immensely in the development of the music industry into its current state in the society. He was born on 4 March, 1678 of his parents Gianbattista and Camilla Calicchio in Venice.

Vivaldi, the Red Priest is an Italian film created and directed by Liana Marabini in 2009,[1] about the life of composer Antonio Vivaldi, who was also a Catholic priest. It shows his relationship with the world, the Church, his spiritual battles and his love for a woman. This co-production between the UK and Italy has two episodes of 90 minutes,[2] and intends to show the spiritual dimension of Vivaldi which is, according to the director, often ignored.[3]
